Law is not all that difficult. Outside natural law – things that are not decided by the minds of men, everything is grounded in contract or agreement : Overt and Tacit. The former being a knowing act or agreement and the latter a form being applied due to circumstances, mainly by people being ignorant/credulous.
The word "Constitution" is a construct of the two agreements noted above. It consists of two words: Confidence and Institution. A institution of confidence. This is due to those being under a public law form that a certain faction had established... not being derived by those under its power or jurisdiction.
It is important to note the Constitution for the United States – or "OF the United States" with respect to the reconstructed version – is only the Supreme law of the land, not the Paramount law. The latter is natural law, or God's law, which trumps the document. This principle was best stated by William Penn, who said... "Those people not governed by God must be ruled by tyrants."
That noted, Americans love their "liberty". Simply put, liberty is freedom with restrictions. One might say, the restrictions are a plethora a statutes made up by the rulers to control the duped masses... for profit and gain. Accordingly, they all love their "Democracy". It had been said long ago... "...you don't want a king."... but to this day people don't get it. They love their RED meal ticket.
